Jean-Paul

JACQUET

Jean-Paul Jacquet is a painter, sculptor and visual artist born in Brussels on December 16, 1966. From an early age, he was inspired by his grandfather, a sculptor and painter, as well as by such great names as Alberto Giacometti and Pierre Soulages. He first turned to craftsmanship, working for some thirty years as a staffer-mouleur-sculptor. He then felt the need to give free rein to his creativity through painting and sculpture.

Her art then became an exercise in imagination, to convey her emotions through surrealist elements. His challenge as an artist is to give his work non-verbal expression through the use of different materials, shapes and colors. Jean-Paul Jacquet’s works are characterized by sensations that can be experienced with the eyes as well as the hands. Indeed, his art allows a different approach depending on the angle of view, but also thanks to the possibility of touching the works. In this way, he likes to disrupt the initial point of view and simultaneously express different emotions depending on the approach.

For him, art must always be in motion, in effervescence, constantly challenging established rules. This is another reason why his works play with gravity and relief. His creativity is revealed through his work in polymer elastomer, fabrics and polyester cubes. Finally, this Belgian artist produces singular creations in Waterloo (Belgium) in his studio, adjacent to his exhibition gallery. His work is also exhibited at various international shows.

As he likes to say: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication!
